Facebook have finally updated the Page facility to bring you email alerts when someone comments on your page and to let you decide if to comment / tag photos as the page or yourself. Both of these are fantastic for page administrators.
There is some criticism though, the new page layout is like the personal one with menu down the side and photos at the top which is not that popular, but this isn’t the main issue. The big one is that the posts on your page are not listed in chronological order, making the most popular ones at the top of your feed and not the latest.
At the moment you can decide if to upgrade your page or wait until the automatic update on the 10th March 2011 where they will all change regardless.
The FB details about the changes are here: Facebook Page Update
If you want to upgrade your pages now, the option is here: Facebook Page Status
Once you have upgraded, under the account button on the top right you can select if you are the page or you. When logged in as your page, any comments you make will be as the page.
To set your default user for posting preferences and email go to edit page, select your settings there are two tick boxes to complete.
If you want to switch user, go to account and select “use Facebook as page”, this takes you to a list of your pages where you can “switch” to one of them.
You can also highlight 5 other pages in the side bar, again great if you have multi pages as you can link them together. Go to edit page, select featured pages. The other plus here is that you can also show the page owner if you want to in a featured section.
Fantastic news from Facebook, just please fix the chronological order!
