The bet was on! If Nicola Erlich spotted a photo of Mike in his speedos on the social media websites then we had to make the next “tweetup” in Marbella!
Before you ask Mike doesn’t strut around in his speedos but we do participate in the sea swimming competitions (travesías) in Lanzarote and there are often photographers at the finish line waiting to capture that moment you reach the shore again. I’m not going to paste the link to “the photo” as Mike is shy when adorned with his turbo trunks but Nicola did indeed spot a photo of him in Facebook. I must thank the person that tagged Mike as we had a fabulous trip over to Marbella :)
You may be wondering what is a tweetup?
A tweetup is a social event where tweeters (people who use twitter) meet up in person at a given time and place. For many this could be the first time they have met someone they have been following virtually online but not face to face before.
Not knowing what to expect from the Marbella scene we arrived for the Tweet Marbella #tweetup at Restaurante Guey in Nuevo Andalucia straight from the airport on the first Wednesday in November. (See twtvite)
Nicola used the event to help two new local businesses whose products were on display:
Cake Couture Marbella @cakecouturemar
Inova @Inovawineman
The samples disappeared very quickly!
This was a chance for us to meet tweeters that we had been in contact with for some time and to make new friends, there were over 70 attendees for this occasion.
We were delighted to meet:
Nicola Erlich @nicchick
Steve Hall @thisisspain
Keith Spitalnick @keithspitalnick
who we have both been in touch with before, it was easy to spot you guys as you have real life photos for your twitter profile!
What a fantastic tweetup!
It was lovely to meet so many like minded business people in Spain, if you were there and we haven’t yet connected please follow us @mikecj and @juliecj
